Saige's Vocabulary List

Here is a list of Saige's vocabulary words. She will copy any word we try to get her to say, but these words are ones she'll use repeatedly and accurately. I'd like to think that she is 'advanced' but a) I'm sure all other moms would like to think this of their kids, and b) I don't have another child to compare her to! Or, an older, future Saige (who has traveled back in time, mind you) to prove it matters in the long run. So, here ya go...

The usual rundown:
  • mama, dada, yaya, papa, bye-bye, hi, paci, blanki, puppy, doggy, baby, phone, no, soft, shoes, fishies, uh-oh
More unique (phonetically spelled, of course):
  • Side? = Outside?!
  • Mah = for 'more' but will say this even if she hasn't had a 1st bite yet.
  • No-knee = nose
  • eyes
  • toes
  • mouf = mouth
  • Bah-dee = belly button
  • hair
  • ears & earring
  • cack = cat
  • MEOW (caps for yelling or loud cat voice)
  • fi-yah = fire
  • sssss = kisses
  • GAAAAAHH = God
  • zee-zah = Jesus
  • chips = shouldn't have taught her this one! When she says it, it comes much different! It would be a category 2 or 3 word according to Missy.
  • Dake-du = Thank you
  • Trees = Broccoli
  • cookie

Unique phrases or gestures:
  • Bye-bye fi-yah = when I blow out the candle
  • NAH-NAH-NAH-NAH-NAH! = telling the cats 'No!' in a high pitched voice whilst shaking a finger high in the air.
Can't think of anymore. Will add more when they come to me. Here's a picture just for fun...

Love & blessings,
N.

Fall Punkin' in Pumpkins

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. I have a ton more but Blogger is not cooperating with my desires to upload and post a ton of pics in the order I want. Ugh to Blogger and ugh to my particularness. Let me know if you want more pics and I'll send you a zip file. It's really hard to get a good pic of Saige these days. I couldn't get any good ones of John either!

Galvez

(Missy, this one's for you...)

John and I recently went to Galveston for the weekend and we had a blast. We were there for a wedding at the Hotel Galvez (and a lil getaway while Saige stayed with John's parents...thanks, Yaya & Papa!) . It was so gorgeous - the hotel and wedding. Adam is one of John's old buddies from waiting tables way back when and he and Tiffany attended our wedding from out of town.

The centerpieces were vases of flowers (which they took away before I could capture??) surrounded by real sanddollars and starfish. Very unique and cool...

We stayed at the reception for 3 hrs! They did have an open bar...

I basically grew up in Galveston as a kid. Every summer my dad would say, "We gotta go get the white off!" so head to the beach, we did. Then, through out highschool, I took many trips with friends. I hadn't been back to the island since Hurricane Ike and was impressed at the city...many new, shiny paint jobs. The Flagship Hotel's appearance was very sad. It is uninhabited and deserted...

You could see furniture and linens blowing in the wind. I have heard that Tillman Fertito just bought it and is either going to renovate or make the pier a boardwalk type with rides and novelties. It should be impressive based on Kemah and the quality of his restaurants. I'll look forward to that. Anywho...

John and I went out to eat at an incredible restaurant, Rudy & Paco's (thanks for the recommendation, Andrea!). While it sounds like a taco stand, it was fine dining at a small, quaint, downtown district restaurant. We were very impressed. I didn't think Galvez had any really good restaurants left (Guido's is past its prime and I was wanting romantic, fine dining). Paco greeted us upon arrival, and we realized it was his picture on the wall with so many celebrities...Katherine Zeta Jones, Tony Bennett, Al Roker, Gloria Estefan. He came by our table 3-4 times and even bussed it! Great for the guests...so warm and familial. Awful if you work there with your boss breathing down your neck. So, here's predinner...

And during...

...and post-dinner at a cool Martini bar (21) with a great Sammy-esque live jazz band. I highly recommend the Mr. Hershey and Key Lime pie martinis!!!

We wrapped up the weekend with a huge brunch at the Hotel Galvez. The weather didn't get us down! What with the food, mimosas and live pianist...it was heaven. Here was the view from our table at the Hotel Galvez' Bernardo's...

So, this post wasn't all about Saige, huh? Oops...

Natasha

Saige in the Sandbox

I have finally given in to the pressure of the world that is blogging. I resisted for a long time but started to think when Saige is a teenager, she'll say, "Mom, why were you the only one out of all my friends' mom not to blog? I want to see my childhood!".

Speaking of Saige, she seems to have blossomed more than ever in the past week. Not just socially and physically, but verbally. This past week, she told me she didn't want me to leave her during her nap. When I put her in her crib, she stood and said, "Bye bye, no no no no no". It was the cutest. She has also discovered the cat's food. At lunchtime and I went to feed the cats real quick before Saige and myself. I haven't seen her move so fast as she scurried over to the bowl, threw a piece of cat food in her mouth and said, "Mmmmmmm!!!" with raised eyebrows and a big smile. As if I had been keeping this delicacy from her. Well, at least it was Iams.

She is walking better than ever but still crawling a lot. She will soon be climbing and running soon and I won't have a baby anymore! I know she's a toddler now and not an infant, but I still call her the baby. :) In about a week, she will be 17 months old, weighing about 22 lbs. She is tall for her age, in the 95th percentile for height.

I'll post many more pics (new & old/pre-blog) but here's one this past week of Saige and Cib playing in the sandbox at Mission Burrito. She had a blast with her besti!

Blessings,

Natasha
